The Westchester Flying Club was formed in February 1982 as the result of a merger between the Sound Beach Flying Club and the White Plains Flying Club.  Both of the clubs which merged had been continuously based at the Westchester County Airport since the 1960s.

The Club’s purpose is to provide safe, economical flying to its members.  However, the social aspects of our flying fraternity should not go unmentioned.  Friendships formed at our meetings and at the airport are shared with our families and friends at fly-ins, summer outings, and our Annual Dinner.

The Club, incorporated in the State of Connecticut, operates on a non-profit basis.  Flying rates are based on actual costs and charged on tachometer time.  All officers are volunteers, and each member is encouraged—and expected—to participate to some extent in the Club’s functions and operations.  Meetings are held every month and you’re invited to attend. (Click here for meeting date, time and location.)

All repairs to Club aircraft are made by FAA-certified repair stations.  Each plane is regularly inspected in addition to being repaired as required.  Each plane has a designated maintenance coordinator to whom all problems are referred, and who arranges for repairs. A Safety Officer qualifies instructors and a Records Officer checks on medical and BFR currency of members.

Club insurance liability limits are $100,000 per passenger, $100,000 property damage, $1,000,000 per occurrence.  Mortgages on all aircraft owned by the club are without personal or Club endorsements.

Scheduling is extremely liberal and can be done via the internet or telephone. There are no daily minimums, and aircraft may be taken away for up to 14 consecutive days (longer with prior approval) with the member paying only the tachometer time used. The total number of members is limited to ensure good availability of planes at all times.
